Plogger, XML and Flash

Exciting news on the development front, Plogger has been given a gorgeous Flash user interface thanks to our friend Johan Ã…hman from team77.se. The project is still in its early stages, but you can see that it already has a certain polish and attention to detail that indicates the finished product will be something amazing. If you can read Swedish, then I suggest you check out the original post on Johan’s blog.

The interface is based off an XML modification to Plogger which makes galleries render to XML instead of XHTML. In basic terms, this means anyone will be able to build custom UI components for Plogger, on any platform and in any language. We’re working hard to get this XML engine integrated into the next release as the possibilities for expansion are limitless.

When Plogger Beta 3 is released, you will be able to drop a couple of files into your themes directory and have your entire existing gallery seamlessly converted to Johan’s Flash UI. Another click and you can switch your theme back to HTML. Simple, useful and powerful. I’m looking forward to see this system evolve.
