Skype Doesn’t Want My Money

After my third try buying SkypeOut credits from the Skype website, I have simply given up.

The first time I attempted to make the purchase, it appeared that the Visa processing servers were at fault. They were just down, I submitted my credit card details and pressed submit but the site just hung there, uselessly. I tried hitting the thing several times, but it was just not responding.

I thought this may have been a one time issue; you would think Skype would keep on top of something as important as making sure that payment servers were up. Apparently not. I tried again to buy a week later, no luck. The Visa processing server was still unresponsive. How many potential sales did they lose that week because their payment processing server was down? Pretty stupid if you ask me.

So here we are, my third and final attempt to give Skype my hard earned cash. Everything seemed to be working fine, I submitted my details (everything was correctly entered) and was treated to an error screen with the following accompanying email.

We’re terribly sorry, but we could not obtain clearance for the transaction of your recent order with Skype. We’ve tried more than once, and with all methods available to us, but with the same result.

Well, at least they tried more than once. I know I did.
