Global Collaboration

I am always humbled and impressed by the effortless way in which we communicate with one another across different countries and languages through the Internet.

I find that I often forget this, the Internet really takes care of abstracting physical location into a triviality. Here is a perfect example — First, a FrenchmanSwissman named Serge Keller suggests Plogger as a viable photo gallery solution to Danish graphic designer Joen Asmussen. Meanwhile, an Estonian named Anti Veeranna downloads Plogger on Joen’s recommendation and decides to write a script that allows his Linux application Digikam to communicate remotely with his gallery via the Gallery protocol.

While this is all occurring thousands of miles away, American web developer Mike Johnson sits at his computer in Minnesota and marvels at the whole process. I love the Internet.
