The movement is complete. I have successfully transferred all of my earthly belongings to my new one bedroom apartment in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Grand Avenue is an interesting street to live on to say the least. Grand is a mecca of trendy urban culture, with a plethora of shops and restaurants of all varieties. The people are strangely friendly, the streets are noticeably cleaner than Minneapolis, and the neighboorhoods are undeniably wealthier. I was in for quite a shock when the local grocer started bagging my groceries for me and walking them out to my car, “Can I carry that?” I asked. He refused and continued walking — I knew that I just gave the clerk my last $36.00 and didn’t have any money to tip the helper. “You know, I’m used to shopping at Rainbow, am I supposed to tip you?” I mumbled. He replied “It’s really not neccesary sir, it’s part of the job”. What a great place, this Saint Paul.
I’ve always had roomates since I left the nest, and not having any for the first time has been quite enjoyable. My mess is my mess, my dishes are my dishes. No one to complain about, no one to complain at you. Everything in the apartment is you. Now, if I only had enough furniture to fill the place I would be happy. My living room is completely empty — except for the big T.V. I never watch sitting on the T.V. stand I completely broke trying to put together. Oh, and I am having internet withdrawels. I am still waiting for Comcast to come and plug me back into the matrix.
Until then, I guess I will have to post from my office on campus. Today is the first day of classes back at the University. Only … 17 … credits … left … must … continue … on …
